13 Cocktails to Drink Like a Pirate for Gasparilla
Avast ye mateys! Adorn your bootstraps, buckles, eye-patches and captain’s hats. Pirates are invading Tampa, bringing weeks of music, parades, art and of course… drinks! As the crowd on Bayshore builds, you will need swashbuckling sips to properly celebrate. Get onboard with these 13 pirate-themed drinks.
Shipwreck

1 ounce melon liqueur

1 ounce coconut rum

1 ounce dark rum

1 ounce pineapple juice
Mix all ingredients together in a glass with crushed ice.
Pirate’s Pleasure

1 ounce spiced rum

½ ounce overproof rum
-
2 ounces pineapple juice

2 ounces orange juice

Pineapple wedge

Cherry
Add spiced rum, pineapple juice and orange juice in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled glass over ice. Float overproof rum on top. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry.
Captain’s Table

2 ounces gin

½ ounce aperitivo

1 ounce orange juice

1 teaspoon grenadine

4 ounces ginger ale

Orange slice
Combine gin, aperitivo, orange juice and grenadine in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice. Top with ginger ale and garnish with an orange slice.
Rum Runner

½ ounce light rum

½ ounce banana liqueur

½ ounce blackberry brandy

1 ounce pineapple juice

1 ounce orange juice

Splash of grenadine

½ ounce dark rum

Orange wedge
Mix light rum, banana liqueur, blackberry brandy, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine in a glass with ice. Float dark rum on top. Garnish with an orange wedge.
Hurricane

1 ounce white rum

1 ounce gold rum

½ ounce passion fruit syrup

½ ounce lime juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake until combined and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with fruit.
Florida Pina Colada

¾ ounce coconut rum

¾ ounce dark rum

3 ounces pineapple juice

1 ounce orange juice

2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Pineapple wedge
Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend for one minute or until smooth. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry. Serve immediately.
Day at the Beach

Pineapple wedge
Combine coconut rum, amaretto liqueur and orange juice in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain in a glass over fresh ice, top with grenadine. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry.
Sunburn

1 ounce tequila

1 ounce triple sec

2 ½ ounces cranberry juice
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Sea Breeze

1 ½ ounces vodka

4 ounces cranberry juice

1 ounce grapefruit juice

Lime wedge
Mix liquid ingredients in a highball glass over ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Salty Dog

1 ½ ounces vodka

3 ounces grapefruit juice

Coarse sea salt
Rim a glass with salt. Add vodka and grapefruit juice in a shaker with ice. Strain over fresh ice in a salt-rimmed glass.
Mermaid Rum Punch

8 ounces white rum

8 ounces coconut rum

24 ounces pineapple juice

4 ounces lime juice

8 ounces blue curacao
Combine ingredients in a large bowl or pitcher. Stir. Serve in glasses filled with ice.
The Point of No Return

6 ounces Maudite

1 tablespoon orange marmalade

1 ounce bourbon

½ ounce fresh lemon juice
Add all ingredients to a snifter glass filled with ice.
Tropical Storm

1 cup light rum

¾ cup dark rum

1 ½ ounces Campari Aperitivo

2 cups pineapple juice

1 ounce orange juice

Orange wedges
Mix ingredients in a pitcher. Cover and chill for 6 to 12 hours. Divide among ice-filled glasses. Garnish with orange wedges and maraschino cherries.
Keep in mind, glass containers are strictly prohibited, so make sure you have the proper drinking vessel. There are canned cocktails, wines and seltzers available to stock your cooler with.
