Much like Siskel & Ebert and peanut butter & jelly – “The Big Game” & beer have been a legendary pairing for eons. Cracking open a cold one to watch the game is certainly a tried-and-true Sunday Funday option. But, mixing things up, literally and figuratively, with some sensational football party punch and batch cocktails will intercept the spotlight. Here are some of our favorite game day punch recipes that are sure to score a touchdown with your guests.

Siesta Key Kick’n Punch

This tasty twist of a punch will spice things up with its tropical notes and cool ginger kick. Best of all, this special cocktail is crafted with a local favorite, Siesta Key Rum—an artisan Sarasota distillery that makes all of their delicious rums in hand-crafted small batches.

The Play:

In a pitcher, combine both rums, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice and ginger beer. Stir well. Serve over ice and garnish with a lime wedge and mint leaves.

If you prefer to make the punch in advance, combine all ingredients except the ginger beer. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Stir in the ginger beer immediately before serving.

Looking to score extra points? Turn your lime garnishes into mini footballs by using a small channel knife. Carefully carve a long, thin strip down the center of one lime (lengthwise). You should carve deeply enough to see the white pith but shouldn't be digging too far into the fruit. Going across the first carved line, carve four or five shorter lines to mimic football laces.

Irish Palmer

Give your team a little luck from the Irish with this Emerald Isle spin on the classic Arnold Palmer. Sláinte!
