Charles Mignon 'Cuvee Comte De Marne' Brut Grand Cru

Nothing says “celebrate mom” better than a bottle of Champagne. One of my favorite brands is Charles Mignon. Located in Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region of France, this small, family-run winery crafts delicious bubbly in a style that displays “structure, finesse and purity” in the words of their winemaker. My personal favorite is their Cuvee Comte de Marne Brut Grande Cru. Blended with 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, this outstanding bubbly displays notes of yellow fruit, hazelnuts and acacia flowers. Don’t just take my recommendation for it, The Wine Enthusiast also loved this bottling, rating it a superb 93 points.

Chateau De Pibarnon Rose

Planning on hosting a virtual brunch for mom? Then naturally, Rosé should on the table. Dry Rosés are some of the most versatile, food-friendly wines that will pair with a variety of classic brunch dishes and warm May weather. My go-to for a splurge on any occasion is Bandol. Located in Southeast France, the Bandol region makes, in my opinion, the finest dry Rosés on the planet. As for producers, look no further than Chateau Pibarnon. Chateau Pibarnon is one of the most iconic wineries of this region, their Rosé gets lauded with accolades, most recently receiving a 92-point score from Vinous for their 2018 vintage.

Trisaetum Ribbon Ridge Estate Pinot Noir

Sometimes a day honoring mom calls for relaxation, good conversation and a wine that’s both flavorful and easy drinking. For this occasion, choose a tasty Pinot Noir from Oregon. One of my all-time favorites is Trisaetum’s Ribbon Ridge Estate. Crafted by James Frey, this wine hits all of the high points, balancing wonderful red fruit flavors with a touch of spiciness in a smooth, easy-drinking style. It’s also worth noting that their Willamette Valley, a blend of their single vineyards, is also delicious and worth seeking out. Both have received outstanding press, with the Ribbon Ridge being awarded 94 points and the Willamette Valley being awarded 91 points by Wine Spectator Magazine for their 2017 vintages.

Bravante Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

I don’t know about yours, but my mom LOVES a nicely grilled steak. So, what do you pair it with? Cabernet Sauvignon, of course. But not just any run-of-the-mill Cabernet. Remember, we’re celebrating mom and going big. For this special occasion, nothing beats the 2014 Bravante Howell Mountain Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, rated a whopping 95 points by Wine & Spirits magazine and awarded the honor of one of the year’s best wines. Located high in the hills above Napa Valley, winemaker Duane Dappen crafts wines with richness, depth and elegance. If mom loves Napa Valley wines, then this is a must-buy for her special day.
