Ingredients
Cocktail:
- 1 ½ ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce apple shrub*
- 1 ounce apple cider
- Soda water
- Apple slice
*Apple Shrub recipe:
- 1 ½ cups apple cider vinegar, divided
- 1 cup of organic cane sugar
- 1 ½ cups Honeycrisp apples, grated (skin on)
- Star anise
- Cinnamon stick
Directions
For the apple shrub: Add ¾ cup apple cider vinegar and cane sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture until sugar is completely dissolved. Add in grated apples, star anise and cinnamon stick. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Using a double layer cheesecloth, strain the juice into a new container. Add remaining ¾ cup of apple cider vinegar. Allow it to rest in the fridge for 2 to 4 days.
For the cocktail: In a glass with ice, add bourbon, shrub and apple cider. Top with soda water and stir to combine. Garnish with an apple slice.
