MARSALA

On the western edge of the island of Sicily in Italy lies Marsala, the region of origin for Italy’s most famous, and Marsala’s eponymous, fortified wine. Marsala ranges in color from amber to ruby and is aged for a minimum of one year. These Italian beauties can be sweet, dry or anywhere in between and are most often used to cook creamy sauces, in which their apricot, vanilla and brown sugar flavors shine.
