Pilsner originated in the 1840s in Bohemia. The style is light and clear in color and low in alcohol, typically around 4-5 percent ABV. These brews are smooth and crisp, with a spicy bitterness and floral flavor/aroma that comes through with prevalent hops. Pilsners are excellent on their own or with lighter foods like beer-battered shrimp and seafood salads.
