From pale light straw to deep hues of yellow, white wines are pretty, accessible and delicious. Summer citrus fruit aromas dominate in whites, but they’re accompanied by a cornucopia of other fruits. Chardonnay, for instance, tastes of green apple, citrus, pineapple and papaya, whereas Chenin Blanc will yield ripe apple, lemon drop, pear and honeydew. Pinot Grigio tastes of fresh pear and melon. A Riesling will serve up notes of apricot, peach and honeysuckle. White wines are best served chilled.
